The Institute of Computational Genomics invite applications of highly motivated individuals for

1 Ph.D. position (m/f/d) in Epigenomic Bioinformatics

We invite applicants for a PhD position in computational methods to dissect DNA methylation changes and their impact in regulatory features of cells upon aging in humans. The candidate will develop bioinformatic methods for detection of age associated DNA methtylation changes from whole genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) and associated these with chromatin, regulatory and transcriptional features of cells (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, scATAC-seq and scRNA-seq). This project will be performed within a Sequencing Grant form the DFG aiming to generate a large sequencing atlas of epigenetics in human aging in collaboration with Prof. W. Wagner Cell Biology Division, RWTH Aachen and Prof. A. Meissner, Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, Berlin.

Your profile

We are looking for highly motivated individuals (m/f/d) with a university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in computer science or bioinformatics. The salary is according to German public service salary scale level TV-L 13 65% and initially limited to 2 years.  Applicants should have experience in bioinformatics methods for analysis of epigenetic sequencing protocols and statistical machine learning. Experience in high performance computing is a plus. Willingness for teamwork and the ability to work independently in a competitive international environment are required. Good skills of English are expected.
