Research Group Leader (f/m) Image Analysis

The position is open immediately and is initially available for up to five years (employment is valid in compliance with the provisions of the law WissZeitVG). After this period and positive evaluation, a permanent position will be offered.
 
Within the research focus areas of the Molecular Genetics Department, vegetative growth and seed formation, the research group Image Analysisdevelops procedures and implements analysis pipelines for automatedprocessing of 2D and 3D plant images acquired through the use of the high throughput platforms of the institute. Theprimary image data are collected using various devices and sensors installed in the established and further expanded plant phenotyping facilities. Their individual and integrated analysis (including pre- and post-processing) is performedto derive information on features of plant growth, development, and function. The group is involved in collaborative large-scale investigations of plant performance in varying environmental conditions and towards linking genetic with phenotypic variation. 
 
Your tasks:
As research group leader you carry out independent and internationally highly visible research within the frame of the goals of IPK and the Department Molecular Genetics. You instruct and guide the members of your group and you raise third party research funding. In addition, youare involved in andsupport institute- and department-wide research initiatives.
