All academic research groups at universities and technical universities offer the possibility for a PhD after the completion of a respective master's program. Research insititutes like the Max-Planck-, Helmholtz-, Leibniz- and Fraunhofer Institutes also offer PhD programs in cooperation with universities. A PhD program requires the active and constitutive work in bioinformatics research and lasts about 3-4 years. Some universities and other research institutions offer structures PhD programs like graduate schools. When you are interested in a PhD program, we suggest that you first scan the research groups taking the research focus into account.
