The Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (SGN) is a member of the Leibniz Association and is based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. LOEWE Centre for Translational Biodiversity Genomics (LOEWE-TBG) is a joint venture of the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (SGN), Goethe-University Frankfurt, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen and Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME aiming to intensify biodiversity genomics in basic and applied research. We will establish a new and taxonomically broad genome collection to study genomic and functional diversity across the tree of life and make genomic resources accessible for societal-demand driven applied research.

student research assistant (m/f/d)
The ‘TEcology’ is a computational genomics project devoted to automatic detection and classification of transposable/mobile elements in the assembled eukaryotic genomes. This is a rare opportunity to start your research career working on a cutting-edge project. As a selected candidate, you will also have an excellent opportunity to start working on your Master Thesis (Bioinformatics/Computational biology) under supervision of Dr. Vladimir Kapitonov (TBG/Senckenberg) and Prof. Dr. Ingo Ebersberger (Goethe-University).
· onging master´s course in biology, bioinformatics or a related subjects
· experience in programming (PERL)
· basic understanding of molecular and computational biology, bioinformatics and evolution
· proficient use of the English language
You will work maximum 41 hours per month. The contract shall start as soon as possible and will be limited by December 31th, 2021. Equally qualified handicapped applicants will be given preference. The place of work is in Frankfurt am Main at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (SBiK-F).
