Our lab at the at the Dept. of Experimental Medicine I, FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany (http://www.em1.med.fau.de/) is focused on understanding molecular mechanisms of metastasis formation, one of the leading causes of cancer-associated death. The epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT)‑inducing transcription factor ZEB1 is a key regulator of the metastatic cascade and in the last 15 years our group has greatly contributed to dissect its mechanisms of action. In the proposed research project, we aim to elucidate its function in the emerging field of enhancer-mediated gene regulation.

Within this project, we are looking for a highly qualified and motivated PhD student with a strong interest in both bioinformatics and cancer biology. Your tasks will include analysis of high-throughput sequencing datasets (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-Seq), multi-omics data integration and exploitation of public cancer repositories, and supervision of undergraduate students.
